On January 30, 2023, Josip Lorincz received the Science Award from the University of Split, Croatia. The award is assigned to the most productive scientists whose work has significantly contributed to the recognition of the University of Split in terms of scientific excellence.
The ceremony of awarding the Science Award of the University of Split for the year 2022, was held on January 30, 2023, in the University of Split Senate Chamber. The awarded scientists were selected among all currently employed scientists at the University of Split, based on the criteria of scientific productivity in 2021. As the basis for awarding the Award for science for 2022, the University Library created in different scientific fields ranking list of a scientist having published scientific works indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) and Scopus databases. For creating the ranking list, only papers of authors affiliated with the University of Split were taken into account. In addition to the number of published papers, the university commission in the process of evaluation also applied additional criteria of scientific excellence, such as the quality of the journals in which scientist publish their scientific work (journal indexing quartile in Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Scimago Journal Reports (SJR)), contribution to the scientific papers (main and corresponding author), etc.
The commissions proposed candidates for the Science Award of the University of Split for 2022 by taking into account the total number of scientists from a particular scientific field. The Senate of the University of Split approved the list of awarded candidates at the Senate meeting session held on December 15, 2022. in Split, Croatia.
